Management of PFAS – latest developments
Watch this virtual conference on risk assessment and management of on polyfluoroalkyl and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in soil and water.

Background
Polyfluoroalkyl and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have attracted a lot of attention in the media, the construction industry, and from regulators. Some of the over 20,000 members of the PFAS family of chemicals, including Perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), have been listed as ‘persistent organic pollutants’ (POPs) under the Stockholm Convention.

This conference will explore some of the issues that construction professionals have encountered in managing PFAS in soil and groundwater in the past 12 months. Leading experts will discuss the latest developments in our understanding of toxicology, fate, and transport of PFAS. They will also consider the implications of recent documents, including Regulatory management option analysis (RMOA), and how overseas experience will shape on the way that UK sites with PFAS will be managed in the future. Attendees will also hear what the Environment Agency and CIRIA have been doing, and how good practice guidance from CIRIA's forthcoming report on PFAS can will help practitioners.
